Jim Kukral: The Google Day Of Reckoning Is Coming For Black Hat Seo’rs

  • Jonathan (Trust) · 2 years ago
Don't think it's something the "black hats" are worried about. Google having to ask people to turn others in tells me they have no handle on the problem whatsoever, a problem that lies in part to Google itself. What will simply happen as far as buying/selling links is people just won't be as dumb like many are now and advertise that they are. All you would have to do is have links like you have them under Daily Reads. You can't tell if someone has paid for them or not.

Now I Twittered another blogger about this. Now in this person's case it's very easy to spot since on their blog they mention the links on the top of their blog can be bought thr0ugh Text Link Ads. That's just like waving the flag to Google. Those would be pretty easy to nail and not to bright to begin with.

What about banners and other links? To me that's just advertising that a lot of sites do. But Google want's you to add nofollow. I think that might actually do more harm than good. And most people with sites don't read Matt Cutts blog and I don't think people should let an SE dictate to them how they should code their site. After all, Google has said to make your sites for people not them :)

Actually I don't think Google can make much progress here at least not for a while, because buying and selling links has been going on since time began. This is a multi million dollar "industry"...as far as we know. How is it possible to control or abuse that?

You can't. People will continue to do it. All this will do is get people to do it a little bit smarter for those who aren't already. And according to this:

Google's own people are doing it.

No search engine will ever eliminate spam/black hat stuff. They'll just do what they've always done. Try to combat it as best they can and they might make some inroads here and there. And with every move they make, SEO'ers will make their moves. Like a neverending game of chess.

Does this make you a Blackhater? ;)

Believe it or don't believe it. Just don't cry about it when it happens. Because it is going to happen.

"Believe it or don’t believe it. Just don’t cry about it when it happens. Because it is going to happen."

No offence but if you posted that in any SEO forum, you would get laughed out of it. If you don't believe me, post what you just posted in some top SEO forums and link to those posts from here.

We don't work for Google and never will. Google exists because we have websites. We don't have websites because Google exists.

The sonner we all start ignoring Google the happier we will be.

Now this is really scary, makes me think that all my hard whitehat seo work is going to be labeled as blackhat by Google :(
