I'd failed at piano lessons, but I was an avid voice student so I wanted something to play to accompany myself.  Taught myself from the manual that came with it. I even played and sang in the school talent show.  Unfortunately, there was one string that always slipped and I had to constantly tune it. I got really good at that!  But, I ended up singing a capella for the talent show!
