Jim Kukral: If Blogrush Proves Anything It’s That Bloggers Are Desperate

Yeah, when people are desperate to get something they may not be able to stop and think a bit before proceeding. I confess I myself was just about to jump on the bandwagon, not only because many top bloggers endorsed BlogRush, but also because of John Reese, who I respect a lot (perhaps a bit too much, now that I think about it). All those A-list names together made me really impressed, and I forgot the meaning of "critical thinking" for a short while. Luckily, many bloggers kept their eyes wide open, and by reading their posts and/or comments I managed to see things more realistically.

Another takeaway from BlogRush is that marketing evidently means blogging, monetizing your blog, SEO for your blog, and making a million dollars with your blog by next week. All these years I had it wrong.

As a test I installed BlogRush on one of my two blogs to compare traffic. I have not seen a "flood of traffic," however, I have seen a slight increase above the norm in traffic and subscriptions. For now, that's worth it for me.

It does strike me that BlogRush's life will be short and the service will eventually implode when it becomes populated only by desperate bloggers trying to monetize each other.
