Jim, you need to fix the link to Idea Weaver Software, it needs the www or you get a Bad Host Request error. Well, I did at least :) You can delete this comment after you fix the link :)

For those wondering why I'm standing next to a giant cat...that's Frank the Feral, the mascot for Alley Cat Allies. Two of my books are on caring for pets adopted from animal shelters and I'm the founder of the National Association of Pet Rescue Professionals, so I was at the Taking Action for Animals Conference in D.C. last month.

Frank was wandering around, and let's face it...if you're exhibiting at a conference and a guy walks by in a giant cat suit, you just HAVE to get a picture ;-)

I see little or no mention in any of this of whether the persons in question have anything very important to share with readers in a book. think I can pretty well guarantee that a book written primarily with the intention of increasing your fame or getting more business is going to be a book that no one will really need to or perhaps even want to read. That seems like a recipe for failure.

John, did you listen to the podcast or not?
  • John Ettorre · 1 year ago
Yes, I did listen to the entire podcast. And you asked a series of very good questions. The only problem is this guest doesn't seem to know a whole bunch about book publishing or writing generally, and again, I didn't hear her address a single comment--not a word, even--to quality, just the marketing side and the best channels for selling books and the best way to find a niche. Nothing about the quality of the idea or the quality of the execution.

Ok, fair enough. I did lead her to the marketing though, as I do all my guests. I believe that quality is a given in this scenario of writing a book.

If only we lived in a world where quality was a given... But I hear you. Thanks.
